Marked Lions Worlds Children Day 2009 to support Children in the Internally Displaced
People (IDP) camp, Chedikulam

The service project organized by our club to mark World Children Day was held on 3rd October 2009. It was very successfully. To support children in the camp, we donated sport items and children activity toys to Children Club in the Zone 0.

There are 2000 children in the camp under age of 10 years. The zone is divided in to 12 blocks and each block represents one children club. Together with our club members, we donated story books, children activity toys, play units, indoor and outdoor game set such as carom boards, chess board, badminton rackets, cricket bat & ball etc.

The visit was between 11.30 am to 2.30 pm and children are conducted several events to show their talents. The project is organized by Lion Douglas Nijanthan with support of Lion Lady Dr. Anne Dilanthie Nijanthan who organized the event success with Health Education Bureau (HEB), Ministry of Health.

Thanks to Maitland Lions for leading this project and also our President Lion Baratha Subasingha, 
Lion Reginolld, Lion Capt (Rtd) Predeep and Lion Quintus Rodrigo (Coordinator) for job well done. 


Apart from the Lions Clubs' contribution, we must thank to those individual donors especially 
from Sri Lankan Expatriate in UK and USA.
